Windows Tips

Performance

Disable startup programs

Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the Startup tab, and disable programs you don't need at boot. This can reduce startup time by 30-60 seconds on older machines.

Storage

Run Disk Cleanup regularly

Press Win+R, type cleanmgr, and select your drive. Check all boxes including "Previous Windows installations" after major updates to reclaim 10-20 GB of space.

Security

Keep Windows Defender updated

Windows Defender receives daily definition updates. Make sure automatic updates are enabled in Windows Security to stay protected against the latest threats.

Network

Flush DNS cache

If websites aren't loading properly, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: ipconfig /flushdns. This clears cached DNS entries that may be outdated or corrupted.

Performance

Adjust visual effects

Right-click This PC, Properties, Advanced system settings, Performance Settings. Select "Adjust for best performance" to disable animations and visual effects on slower hardware.
